What Tailing is

Tailing is a personal flight-history logbook for aviation enthusiasts. You sign in, log the flights you have taken manually or by importing a CSV file, and browse your private history on a dashboard. There is no advertising, no analytics tracking, and no sale of personal data — the product is the logbook.

Information we collect

• Account information from your sign-in provider (Google or X): your name, email address, and profile image, as shared by the provider during sign-in.
• Flight records you provide: dates, airlines, airport codes, aircraft, flight numbers, and notes you enter manually or upload via CSV.
• Preferences you set, such as a home airport.
• Essential technical data: session and security cookies required to keep you signed in, plus standard server logs maintained by our hosting provider.

How we use it

Your information is used only to operate the service: authenticating you, storing and displaying your flight history, and keeping your account secure. Your flights are private to your account by default and are never shared with other users.

Who processes it

• Neon (database hosting, United States / EU regions as configured) — stores your account-linked flight records.
• Vercel (application hosting) — serves the app and keeps standard server logs.
• Google / X (sign-in providers) — handle authentication under their own privacy policies.

We do not sell personal information and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Data retention and deletion

Flight records are kept until you delete them — individual entries can be deleted at any time from your dashboard. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at the address below and we will remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK under GDPR and California under the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise any of these rights and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Every flight record is tied to its owner and enforced at both the application and database level. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard measures.

Children

Tailing is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the date above and note the change here. Continued use of Tailing after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
